Pupa (1 to 2 Days): The larva transforms into a hard-shelled pupa deep inside the pipe sludge. This stage is completely resistant to chemical flushes.
Adult (7 to 14 Days): The fuzzy, moth-like fly emerges. They are poor fliers and crawl around the drain opening to mate, restarting the cycle.
Drain flies are small and are not other housefly maggots; they can stick to the PVC pipelines, so they don’t get flushed away easily.
