World Pest Day 2026 marks a significant milestone for the global pest management industry. This year celebrates the 10th anniversary of World Pest Day, recognising a decade of raising awareness about the important role pest management plays in protecting public health, food safety, property, and the environment.

The 2026 theme, “Defending Health Across Borders: The Global Power of Pest Management,” highlights the shared mission that unites pest management professionals worldwide. It also reflects the industry’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding communities against the threats posed by pests.

    Understanding World Pest Day

World Pest Day was founded in 2017 through the initiative of the Chinese Pest Control Association. Several leading industry organisations joined as co-sponsors, including the Federation of Asia and Oceania Pest Managers’ Association (FAOPMA), the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), and the Confederation of European Pest Management Associations (CEPA).

Since its establishment, World Pest Day has provided an opportunity to recognise the contributions of pest management professionals while educating the public about the importance of professional pest control services.

The President of the Global Pest Management Coalition (GPMC) summarised the purpose of World Pest Day by stating:

“World Pest Day was founded on the belief that our industry’s work protects health, safeguards food, and defends communities from the threats posed by pests.”

Today, World Pest Day continues to serve as a platform for promoting awareness and recognising the essential work carried out by pest management professionals across the globe.

The Purpose of World Pest Day

World Pest Day aims to strengthen understanding of how professional pest management contributes to healthier and safer communities.

    Its key objectives include:

Although pests are often small, their impact on health, food supplies, property, and businesses can be substantial. Therefore, ongoing education and awareness remain important parts of effective pest management.

    Celebrating 10 Years of Dedication

The year 2026 represents ten years of industry collaboration, awareness campaigns, and community protection through World Pest Day.

To commemorate this milestone, the Global Pest Management Coalition has developed social media graphics and promotional materials that allow member organisations, companies, and individuals to participate in World Pest Day 2026 activities.

The anniversary message reflects the achievements of the past decade:

“10 years of World Pest Day. 10 years of raising awareness, protecting communities, and uniting an industry around a shared global mission.”

This milestone not only celebrates past achievements but also highlights the continued importance of pest management in addressing future challenges.

A Global Focus on Public Health and Food Safety

In addition to the global digital campaign, the Global Pest Management Coalition will host a special celebration recognising the 10th anniversary of World Pest Day.

Furthermore, leading industry organisations including CEPA, NPMA, and FAOPMA will collaborate to present the 2026 Global Public Health and Food Safety Summit.

This international event aims to share the latest developments in public health protection and food safety management. Participants will also gain insights into best practices and emerging strategies for controlling pests that threaten food supplies and public health.

The summit supports the industry’s ongoing mission to improve food safety standards and reduce pest-borne health risks through education, training, and collaboration.

    Who Should Attend?

The summit welcomes professionals from various sectors involved in pest management, public health, and food safety.

    Participants may include:
